It's January. Anything left to show from your holiday business?

Like many businesses during December, a music store in downtown Boise, ID saw increased foot traffic and the typical bump in revenues associated with the holiday shopping season.
But unlike most businesses, the management took extra advantage and figured out how to leverage that traffic in a way that pays huge dividends all year long.

They collected 163 customer names with verified emails.

Now, to be sure, 163 isn’t that large a number, especially out of the perhaps thousands that walked through. But imagine having that not-so-large-a group showing up at your store at one time...ready to buy what you're selling.

As a result, now the store can re-connect with these customers at a touch of a button. Whenever they want. All year long. Why wouldn’t they start by sending them all a “Happy New Year and thanks for shopping with us” message?

The idea is simple enough. If you have traffic in and out of your business, make a plan to gather customer information in store. They’re already there, they’re already buying stuff so they obviously like what you’re selling. And yes, they are ready to give you their information. You just have to know how to ask for it. And then stay in front of them.

With a system in place, this forward thinking music store owner expects to add 100 or more names EVERY month to their ever growing customer list. At the same time making their current  marketing efforts all the more profitable. And next year's holiday advertising all the easier.
